River Eden, Bolton Willows
First river trip for a few weeks. Temperature was on the up(ish) at about 1.C but the river was mostly frozen apart from fast water. Czech Nymphed all day with not even a nibble. Bring on the spring!

Local Bolton River
Not a bad Chub for a winters day, at one point we took one a cast!
A good size Brownie for a small River.
Phil and I braved the frost to trot a few red maggots which produced some small trout and ten chub up to 1.5 lbs taken over several hours.

Foxhouses with Bolton Fly Tyers
Best and only fish of the day for me, although I lost quite a few, honest!
A spooned fish revealed that the were feeding on Daphnia.
A nice sunset to end the day.
The Damsel that did the damage - lead underbody with stripped Peacock herl rib, Marabou tail and light green hackle.

River Wharf , Pool
Phil Kelly and I fished PA section of the Wharf at Pool. Centre pin was the best option as the water was very high but clear. Two red maggots on a long drift eventually did the trick but even when we found a good Pod they weren't of the feed for very long. Managed to pull out one or two Grayling and foul hooked a little Brownie as well.

Chirk Fishery
Went to fish the Dee today at Erbistock but the water was up, fast flowing and the color of chocolate milkshake! Went for plan B by fishing Chirk fishery a still water near Wrexham. Fisrt time I had fished Chirk and although it looked promising with some rising fish the over all catch was one vert small Rainbow to me and a slightly bigger one or two to Phil. Be good to try again in better weather.
Best flys were size 16 grey nymph and Cal-de-Cannon as tied by Gwilym Hughes.

Barsnfold
17th October 2010 Fished Barnsfold with Bolton Fly Tyers club. Fishing was tough all day even though we were on boat. Despite this managed to pull it round late on when the wind picked up with five rainbows caught on large grey Buzzers and a Scotch Bob, (Red Tag with Claret seal fur palmered with red cock and hackle). Largest fish was 3.5 lb and fought like a dolphin!
